Reigniting the Creative Spark: Introducing The Electronic Music Workshop

After years of refining and perfecting the sounds of others as a mixing and mastering engineer, I found myself missing the thrill of creating music from scratch. I craved a hands-on, immersive experience—one that would let me dive back into composition and learn by doing. Yet, I struggled to find a course that truly resonated with this practical, experimental approach. So, I took matters into my own hands and designed The Electronic Music Workshop: Create, Experiment, Innovate.

This workshop is a project-based journey into the realms of modular synthesis, sound design, and experimental composition. Rather than following a traditional, theory-heavy curriculum, each project in this workshop is crafted to let you learn by creating music. From crafting foundational patches and dynamic soundscapes to building a DIY noise box and performing live, every project is designed to help you master new skills while composing an experimental electronic album along the way.

One of the most exciting aspects of this workshop is its community focus. I encourage you to form a small group of like-minded creators—whether you meet in person or virtually—to discuss each project as you progress. Imagine tackling a new project every week (or every two weeks, depending on your pace), and then coming together to share insights, exchange ideas, and offer constructive feedback. A fun suggestion is for each member to prepare a brief introduction for the upcoming project by sharing inspiring music, quick tutorials, or key points to explore. This approach isn’t about making music together on the spot (although that’s always a bonus), but about fostering a supportive environment for shared growth.

The Modular Music Workshop is my answer to the lack of practical, experimental courses available for creators like us. It’s designed to reignite that creative spark and empower you to learn by composing, experimenting, and ultimately, innovating. The course is open for you to use, remix, and adapt under the CC BY license—so feel free to make it your own, and remember to credit me as the creator.

I’m excited to share this workshop with you and look forward to hearing about the musical journeys you embark upon. Let’s create, experiment, and innovate together!
